Responding to your feedback on Assessitnow: improvements announced
In a recent survey conducted by VETASSESS, we sought your thoughts and feedback on using Assessitnow, an online system providing testbanks and assessment resources to support various training packages.
Through your feedback, a wide range of issues were raised that we are now working to improve.
The survey – conducted from December 2008 to February 2009 - was very well responded, with over 465 people providing feedback on the system. Of participants who responded:
- 50% were from New South Wales
- over 80% were from the hospitality, IT and business industries
- over 80% taught at Certificate 2 level.
The key issues that were raised include:
- Forgotten username and password
VETASSESS will be placing new functionality to the system to allow users to have their username or password emailed to them. - Larger range of testbanks available
VETASSESS is constantly developing new testbanks and resources however these are in areas prioritized by our content manager. We are currently working on Entertainment, Electrotechnology, Retail, Business and Hospitality. We have received many suggestions through the survey process and will consider these accordingly. - Lack of assessment tools to accompany test banks
We are reviewing many units currently and creating tools to accompany the test banks. - Unaware of the transition from Assessit.net to Assessitnow.com
VETASSESS currently operates two systems although Assessitnow.com has superseded the old Assessit.net system. VETASSESS will be phasing out Assessit.net this year so that by 2010, everyone will be using Assessitnow.com. Assessitnow has greater e-assessment capability. We will keep you posted about this transition - More multiple choice test questions
VETASSESS relies on the experience and professionalism of our test bank writers to determine the most appropriate question type for the performance criteria covered. Since the survey results, we have given a recommendation to writers to include more multiple choice questions as marking is easier and more efficient. Users should see this flow through in the next six months. - Upload of student listing
VETASSESS appreciates the need for a more efficient mechanism for student details being placed on the system. Technical staff are looking into the issue and we will report our findings in the next issue. - Self marked short answer questions don't recognise incorrect spelling of answers
Our technical staff have now implemented a wider range of possible variations to each answer to address this issue. - Time taken to mark questions
VETASSESS is aware of the to and fro related to marking answers for a large group of students. Our technical staff are looking at options to improve this process and we will report our findings soon.
