Early childhood teachers
If you are an early childhood or kindergarten teacher, we provide a validation service to assist with re-classifying your role.
Am I eligible?
A Graduate teacher who has completed a minimum of 3 years experience (LGECEEA or VECTAA) and who has successfully completed the Professional Development and Enhancement Program (PDEP) requirements is eligible to seek reclassification, through the validation process, to the Accomplished level.
An Accomplished teacher who has completed a minimum of 7 years experience (as defined) and who has successfully completed the PDEP requirements is eligible to seek reclassification, through the validation process, to the Exemplary level. Further, in order to be eligible for validation, a teacher seeking reclassification from Accomplished to Exemplary will need to hold the relevant qualifications.
What is the process?
We conduct an independent review of evidence that you provide, which addresses the requirements of a set of professional standards related to professional knowledge, professional practice and professional engagement and commitment.

Once you have confirmed your eligibility, there are four broad stages in undertaking the validation process:
- Notice of intention to apply for validation
You will need to indicate your intention to apply for validation by completing the application form (PDF – 117 Kb). - Application for validation
You will need to submit evidence that demonstrates how you meet the standards along with your application for validation. - Validator review of evidence
A qualified validator assesses whether the evidence meets the requirements. If it does not meet the requirements, in some cases an independent validator will undertake a site visit. - Re-classification for successful applicants
Once your application has been deemed successful, you will be re-classified and your salary adjusted to the appropriate pay rates for the new level.
