DOCUMENTATION
1. Do I need to provide a certified copy or Notarial Certificate for verification?
You only need to provide the certified copies or the Notarial Certificates for your identification documents. Academic documents do not need to be certified or notarised, as these documents are to be verified and photocopies of them are sufficient.
2. Can I provide academic documents verified by Public Notary or the awarding body without verification through this service?
We work with the verification authorities in China to verify both the authenticity and the recognition status of the qualification documents. This provides the ONLY acceptable verification outcomes for VETASSESS Skills Assessment.
3. Will you advise which documents need to be verified?
We may be able to provide you information for a number of organisations who use our service regularly. However, each organisation may have different requirements, and update its information from time to time. It is your responsibility to obtain the information about the requirements from the relevant organisations.
4. Can I submit documents translated by the awarding institution?
Yes, we would usually accept these if officially issued. Or you can choose a registered and recognised translation professional or organisation in your country to translate documents.
5. If I have obtained Credential Reports from CADGEDC already, what should I do?
VETASSESS requires all qualification awarded in China for assessment to be verified through Qualifications Verification of VETASSESS. If you have obtained Credential reports in the last 12 months and the reports were issued before 1 April 2011, you need to apply for extra copies of them through VETASSESS and provide a copy of the previous reports to VETASSESS so that we can request the verification result from China directly.
6. If my qualification was awarded by an Army Institution, do I need to submit any additional documents?
If you are applying for the verification of your Degree certificate, you are also required to verify the relevant Graduation Certificate to support the verification. If your qualification was obtained while you were serving in an army, additional documents are required by the verification authorities.
In any of these cases, our officers will contact you or your nominated agent to give detailed instructions.
APPLYING
7. If I have a Chinese degree, do I still need to apply for verification for the Certificate of Graduation obtained through the same study?
If you are hold a Bachelor Degree level qualification or above, and are having your qualifications assessed for a VETASSESS Skills Assessment, you will need to have the following documents verified
- Certificate of Graduation
- Degree Certificate
- Academic Transcript or Examination Results
Applicants who require the verification for an organisation other than VETASSESS should consult the relevant organisation about their requirements.
8. If I have more than one Chinese qualification, do I need to apply for verification for all of them?
You only need to apply for verification of the qualification that meets the minimum requirement of the nominated occupation. If the qualification has gained credits from the previous study, the earlier qualification needs to be verified together with the later qualification. If you are not sure which one you should apply for, please contact us for advice.
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) often requires all Chinese qualifications to be verified. You may use the verification results again when you lodge your application for skilled migration with DIAC. When you submit the verification results to DIAC, you are suggested to send both the Credential Reports and VETASSESS Confirmation letters together with other DIAC required documents.
9. Can I apply for Skills Assessment and Verification at the same time, and pay for them together?
You can submit applications for assessment and verification together by completing the application form for verification and skills assessment (PDF - 542 Kb), and posting the completed form with required documents and fees to VETASSESS. Read more about applying.
10. How does the verification result impact on qualification assessment?
A negative verification result, meaning either that the qualification is not recognised by the Ministry of Education (MOE) in China, or is not recorded in MOE's or the educational institution's database, will normally mean that the qualification cannot be assessed, or will lead to a negative assessment outcome. A positive verification result will be used for assessment, but does not automatically generate a positive assessment. The qualification will be assessed by using assessment guidelines against the Australian Qualifications Framework.
11. Can I cancel my hard copy application and complete my application online instead?
Yes, but additional fees will be incurred. If you began your application in print, it is recommended that you continue it that way.
12. What happens if my details change after I have submitted an application?
If your personal details have changed VETASSESS needs to be informed of these changes in writing.
13. How do I apply for extra copies of verification reports?
To apply for extra copies of verification reports, you should indicate this when completing the Reissue or Retrieval Request Form (CQV6) (PDF – 53Kb). If you have applied for verification with VETASSESS before, you will need to contact us, quoting your VETASSESS Verification Reference Number (do not submit documents already submitted, unless specifically requested).
14. Can I continue my online application at a later date?
Yes. To do this you need to ensure you click 'save and exit' when you are completing your application online. This saves the information so that the application can be retrieved and completed later. You will have an email address and password which will allow you to log on again to continue and complete the application.
15. Can you process my application urgently?
Yes. You need to put your request in writing stating the reason for urgency and provide any relevant supporting documents. An extra fee of AUD $60 is payable for each verification. VETASSESS will try to meet your urgency request within one to two weeks but there is no guarantee that your deadline can be met as VETASSESS needs to contact verification agencies in China.
16. How do I check the status or progress of my application?
The status and progress of applications can be checked by visiting Check progress of application.
17. Can I have my documents verified again if I receive negative result?
Yes, you can. You may apply with additional documents to assist us in re-verifying your qualification documents. We would also like to suggest that you contact us before you apply. The fee of a re-verification is same as a normal verification fee.
18. Which of my qualification documents need to be verified?
