About construction trades

Assessment for the following occupations is against the Australian qualifications from the CPC08 Training Package.

Carpenter CPC30208 Certificate III in Carpentry
Joiner CPC31908 Certificate III in Joinery
Carpenter and joiner* CPC32008 Certificate III in Carpentry and Joinery
Bricklayer CPC30108 Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying

These qualifications include a requirement to complete the unit of competency CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry. For licensing purposes this unit is only achievable via a face-to-face training program in Australia.

The Construction Induction training program is available across all States and Territories in Australia and is usually a 1 day program. A 'white card' is issued by the relevant regulator on the successful completion of the training program. This ‘white card’ is required before a worker can enter a worksite in Australia.

A successful skills assessment outcome for these occupations will be the issuance of a Statement of Attainment (partial qualification) demonstrating that the applicant has met all other qualification packaging rule requirements apart from the CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry.

The successful pre-migration skills assessment letter will indicate that the applicant is successful for pre-migration purposes, however the applicant is required to enrol in a program of training to complete the unit CPCCOHS1001A before being eligible to enter worksites and prior to the issuance of the full qualification.

VETASSESS will be responsible for issuing the full qualification to the applicant upon presentation of the Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency CPCCOHS1001A by the applicant.

VETASSESS will charge an administrative fee of $120 for the finalisation of the service and issuing the qualification.

*Note: The occupation of Carpenter and Joiner (ANZSCO code 331211), requires applicants to meet all of the assessment requirements for the qualification which covers the combined occupations of Carpentry and Joinery.

VETASSESS also assesses the separate occupations of Carpenter (331212) and Joiner (331213). Please refer to the table below which may be useful to determine whether your skills are related to the Australian carpentry or joinery trade. This is to ensure that you are matched to the appropriate standards for your skills when you undertake a practical assessment.
