To have your trade skills assessed for migration purposes, you can choose to either apply online or by mail.

Apply online

The benefits of applying online are:

  • you can track and view the progress of your application
  • you can continue your application at a later stage (within 30 days) rather than completing it all at once, as we provide you with login details
  • the service is quicker as your application will be processed as soon as your documents are received
  • You can book and pay for a practical assessment.

Applying on behalf of a client

If you are an organisation or agent applying on behalf of a client, register now or start new application.

Apply by mail

There are three simple steps to applying by mail:

  1. Download and complete the application form for trade skills assessment (PDF – 164 Kb). For information regarding the application please download and read the Explanatory notes.
  2. Download and complete the appropriate trade evidence form.
  3. Gather all required documents.
  4. Send your completed application form, required documents and assessment fees by mail: VETASSESS, GPO Box 2752, Melbourne, VIC, 3001, Australia.

    If you are applying from India, you can also hand in or mail your application to a local assessment centre.
