Re-assessment & appeals

If you are unsuccessful and want more information, contact us to review your assessment.

If you disagree with your trade skill assessment outcome, there are a few different options available to you. You can:

It is strongly advised that you undertake the review and/or re-assessment stage prior to lodging an appeal.

You must lodge a request for review, re-assessment or appeal within 90 days of the assessment decision being made.

Step 1 - Review

If you want more information or do not agree with the assessment decision at the competency profile or practical assessment stage, submit an application for review (PDF - 39 Kb).

We will conduct a paper based review of the assessment outcome. You will be provided with an explanation of why the assessment decision was made.

Step 2 - Reassessment

If you do not agree with the review outcome, wish to submit additional information at the competency profile stage or undertake a re-assessment, submit a re-assessment form (PDF - 44 Kb), along with the identified fee:

  • AUD$400 for re-assessment at the competency profile stage
  • AUD$1500 - AUD$1600 for a full practical skills assessment (depending on the trade). A sliding scale may be available for partial re-assessment.

Step 3 - Appeal

If you have undertaken a review or re-assessment and are still not satisfied with the outcomes, you have the opportunity to request an appeal by submitting an appeal form (PDF - 47 Kb), along with a fee of AUD$400.

Your appeal will be investigated by a panel, and you will be notified of the outcome in writing within 30 working days from receipt of the appeal. If your appeal is successful, you will be refunded the appeal fee.
