Required documents for applying online

To apply online, you will need the following information:

  • Personal details
  • Details of your formal training, including apprenticeships or traineeships
  • Details of any other training
  • Details of licences, registration or industry membership
  • Details and evidence of your employment history.

Once you’ve applied online, you’ll need to send in the following documents via mail:

  • Application for trade skills assessment form (completed and signed)
  • Identity documents
    • 2 recent photographs – passport size, certified and dated
    • relevant passport pages – certified copy (passport page must show name, photo and date of birth); a birth certificate should be provided if you do not hold a passport
    • change of name evidence (if applicable)
  • Evidence of skills (see list of evidence)
    • evidence of training
    • evidence of employment
    • other items of evidence to support your application
  • Certified English translation of the above documents, compiled by a registered translation service, if originally issued in a language other than English
  • Assessment fee.

Please note ALL DOCUMENTATION MUST BE CERTIFIED copies of the original.

The following types of evidence can be submitted with your application. Note other examples may be suitable.

Training and Licences

  • Certified evidence of training and/or quantifications
  • Certified evidence of academic transcripts
  • Certified English translation of the above documents, compiled by a registered translation service, if originally issued in a language other than English
  • Certified evidence of recognition of your skills, e.g. licences, registration, industry membership

Pathway 2 applicants ONLY

  • Certified evidence of Australian qualification
  • Certified evidence of academic transcripts

Employment

  • An employer statement for each period of employment

You should also submit the following documentary evidence to support each period of employment you are claiming:

  • Taxation record/ Assessment notice
  • Annual payment summary/ Group certificate
  • Pay Slips
  • Bank statements
  • Superannuation employer contributions
  • CV
  • Position description

Points Advice applicants ONLY

If self-employed

  • A personal statement that describes each period of self-employment

You must also submit the following documentary evidence for each year of self-employment you are claiming:

  • Business registration
  • Accountant or legal representative statement
  • Three (3) suppliers statements
  • Three (3) client quotations/invoices or contracts
  • Three (3) client references
    (these must be different from the client quotations/invoices/contracts already mentioned)
  • Trade licensing or registrations
  • Advertising or marketing material

Please ensure you have included certified true copies.

Original documents for work experience will be accepted.

Documents will not be returned.
