Conveyancing
Looking to run a conveyancing business? VETASSESS can help you address the academic requirements for a full licence, which is a requirement by law for non-legal practitioners.
Our assessment allows you to demonstrate your competency in units covered by the national standards, and upon successful assessment you will have partially completed a nationally recognised qualification. Completion of these units is recorded in a ‘Statement of Attainment’ - a document that is recognised both by the Business Licensing Authority as meeting the academic requirements of a full licence and by all Australian Registered Training Organisations as partial completion of any qualification that requires those units.
Am I eligible?
- To apply for assessment through VETASSESS, you must:
- be at least 18 years of age
- be a Victorian resident
- have confirmed you can meet all the eligibility requirements for a conveyancer licence with the Business Licensing Authority (BLA)
- have at least 12 months recent work experience relating to conveyancing.
If you don’t meet these requirements, please contact us so we can help you in addressing any gap.
Exceptions
You do not require a licence if you:
- are an Australian Legal Practitioner, or
- hold a Diploma of Financial Services (Conveyancing), and have completed the correct electives.
If you hold any of the following qualifications, you are only required to demonstrate competency in the specified trust accounting unit, which can be completed through VETASSESS:
- a recognised law degree
- Associate Diploma of Business (Legal Practice)
- Advanced Diploma of Business (Legal Practice)
Assessment process
Our assessment has four parts:
- Register & apply online
- Provide documentary evidence
- Sit the knowledge test
- Meet with an assessor face-to-face
It does not matter if you sit the knowledge test before you submit your documentation or vice versa. Only once you have completed both parts, an assessor will contact you after their review to organise a meeting.
