APPLYING

1. Do I need to sit the literacy & numeracy test?

The VETASSESS Test is a requirement of some institutes and courses to determine literacy and numeracy competence of prospective students to ensure that they can meet the literacy and numeracy demands of the course.

You will need to consult the course pre-requisite information to identify the exact entry requirements with the institute you wish to apply.

3. What should I do if I've forgotten my username and/or password?

If you've forgotten your password, we can send you an email reminder.

4. How do I update my details?

You can update your details through our website. Login now.

 

PAYMENTS

5. How do I pay?

Find out more about our accepted payment methods. When you register online, you will be asked how you wish to pay.

We do not accept cash payments.

  • If you choose to pay by credit card, you can do this using our secure online payment facility and print your confirmation letter immediately.
  • If you prefer to pay by money order/bank cheque, you must print your invoice and mail it with your payment at least seven (7) days prior to your test date. Your confirmation letter will be posted or emailed to you. A copy of your confirmation letter will also be available online with your application details.
  • If you prefer to pay by invoice, you can write your credit card details or attach a money order/bank cheque and present it in person, at our office or by mail.

6. How do I check if my payment was successful?

If you have chosen to pay by online, generally you will receive a message indicating that your payment has not yet been confirmed. This just means that we have not confirmed that the payment has reached our bank account. If you pay online, you should receive a receipt via email. All candidates will receive a receipt via regular mail.

BOOKING A TEST

7. When are tests scheduled?

Search our test sessions by course or educational institute.

8. How do I book a test?

You will need to book a test via our online application. Login now.

9. How do I book another test if I failed previously?

Test candidates can only undertake one test every three months to provide fairness to all candidates. After three months, you will need to book the test via our online application. Login now.

 

ATTENDING THE TEST

10. How do I find out the details for the test venue?

VETASSESS is unable to provide test details to candidates until they have booked into a test. Once you have booked into a test, a confirmation letter will be provided with test time, date, and test location details.

11. How do I get to the test venue?

VETASSESS is unable to assist you with arrangements to get to the test location, we recommend that you use either the Whereis website or Metlink website.

12. How should I prepare for the test?

We recommend that you read through the sample test questions and information available on Preparing for the test.

13. What level is the test at?

The VETASSESS test is designed to be at the level of ACSF 4 Literacy and ACSF 3 Numeracy. ACSF refers to the Australia Core Skills Framework.

14. I didn't get to the test because I couldn't find the time and place for the test?

If there is another available test session before the intake, you may be able to book in for that test. This test will not necessarily be held at the institute where you wish to apply. In this case, you will need to send a copy of your results to your preferred institute.

15. Can I leave the test as soon as I am finished?

No. VETASSESS has strictly enforced to timings for each of the sub tests. VETASSESS will provide an estimated finish time so that you may arrange pick up times, etc. If you leave the test for any reason then we may not allow you to sit the test for a further 3 months.

RESULTS

16. When will I receive my results?

VETASSESS will provide your statement of test scores within 14 days of completing the test, unless you are advised otherwise.

17. How will I receive my results?

Your results will be sent to you by mail. We will also forward a copy of your results to the institute where you applied. Unfortunately we don't provide test results over the phone.

18. Why haven't I received my results?

If you haven't received your results, please check if your payment was successful. We are unable to release your test scores until payment is made. Please allow at least 14 days after completing the test. If you still haven't received your results, phone (03) 9655 4801.

19. How do I know if I got into my course?

You will be advised by the institute that you applied to as to whether or not you are successful in moving to the next stage of the course selection process. VETASSESS has no part in deciding who is or isn't accepted into the course.

20. Do I need to send my results to the institute I am applying to?

No, we will automatically forward your test scores to the institute you are applying to. If you wish to apply to another institute you will need to await your Statement of Scores being sent to you, and then provide a copy of those to the other institute you wish to be considered for.

21. Can you send my results to another institute for me?

No, you will need to send them once you receive your statement of results. You can send them to any institute, provided they recognise the VETASSESS Test.

22. How do I get another copy of my results?

Re-issued Statements of Scores are available by completing the request for Replacement Statement of Results form (PDF - 38Kb). A fee of $30 is charged for the re-issued Statement of Scores. They will be posted to you within 1 week.

23. How long are the results valid for?

The validity of the VETASSESS Statement of Test Scores is a decision of the institute that you wish to apply to. As VETASSESS do not permit you to sit the test twice within 3 months, there is a minimum of 3 months validity of the VETASSESS Statement of Test Scores. Some institutes recognise the Statement of Scores for up to 2 years.
