3. What is in the examination?
The examination has five tests: Spelling and Comprehension Test, Mathematics Test, Test of Reasoning Ability, English Skills Test and a Writing Task.
4. How long does the examination take?
The examination is scheduled over a period of four hours.
5. Are there any prerequisites for the examination?
There are no prerequisites for sitting the examination. However, having passed the Education Entrance Examination is the first of a series of prerequisite entry requirements. Applicants who wish to be appointed to Victoria Police must meet the following requirements:
- be of good character and reputation
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia, or entitled to this status under Commonwealth law
- have the mental capacity and physical fitness to be able to perform the duties of a member of Victoria Police
- complete a medical examination in accordance with standards prescribed by the Chief Commissioner of Police
- pass the education examination, agility/co-ordination test, selection panel interview and complete a psychological screening
- if under 21 years of age, have successfully completed the Victorian Certificate of Education or interstate equivalent.
6. Is there a practice examination I can see?

7. What happens when I pass?
Passing the examination means that you are eligible to apply for recruitment to Victoria Police. VETASSESS will provide you with application forms together with your statement of results.
8. What happens if I fail?

9. What can I do to improve my chances of passing?
A Candidate Preparation Kit is available for purchase through the VETASSESS website for $15. The kit contains sample questions from each of the components of the exam, including a sample writing task and acceptable comprehension responses.
