Preparing for the test

To help you prepare for the Victoria Police entrance examination, we have made a sample test available as well as recommending some books to read.

Many examination centers that provide the examination also run preparatory courses. These courses are not compulsory, nor do they guarantee success. You do not have to attend a preparatory class to be eligible to sit the examination.

Candidate Preparation Kit

A Candidate Preparation Kit is available for purchase through the VETASSESS website for $15. The kit contains sample questions from each of the components of the exam, including a sample writing task and acceptable comprehension responses. The kit also contains general information about the exam and study tips.

  • go to the 'Quick links' at the bottom of the page
  • click on the link for 'Publishing Resources'
  • on the menu bar down the left-hand side of the screen, go to the list of 'Other Resources'
  • click on the link for 'Candidate Preparation Kits'
  • on the new page, click on the link for 'Victoria Police Education Entrance Examination'
  • enter the quantity of Candidate Preparation Kits you wish to purchase
  • click on the 'Buy' button
  • when purchasing is complete, click on the 'Checkout' button
  • complete the order and payment steps
  • the Candidate Preparation Kit will be sent to you within 5 days of payment
