We conduct an independent review of evidence you provide against a set of professional standards related to the domains of:
- Professional Knowledge
- Professional Practice
- Professional Engagement and Commitment.

Once you have confirmed your eligibility, there are 4 steps in undertaking the validation process:
You should apply for validation within 3 months of submitting your intention to apply. You can apply and submit evidence via the online portal (see ‘Apply and Submit Evidence’) or by submitting an Application for Early Childhood Teacher Validation form (660KB pdf).
For each standard, you need to provide up to two pieces of evidence and an accompanying explanation to demonstrate how you meet the requirements of the standard.

A qualified VETASSESS Validator will assess your application to determine if the evidence and explanations provided have met the requirements for each standard. After the initial assessment, you may be asked to provide further information. If the standard requirements have not been met after this reassessment, it may be necessary to arrange for another validator to undertake a site visit.
After the assessment has been completed, both you and your employer will be advised of the outcome.
If your outcome is successful, you will be re-classified to level 3.1, with your salary adjusted to the appropriate pay rate for your new level.
If your outcome is unsuccessful, you will be informed of the reasons for the decision. You can reapply for validation 6 months after receiving an unsuccessful outcome.

If you wish to have the opportunity to be reclassified to level 3.1 effective from your incremental anniversary date, a Notice of Intention to Apply for Early Childhood Teacher Validation form must be submitted to VETASSESS no more than six months prior to your incremental anniversary date. You should then submit a completed Application for Early Childhood Teacher Validation no later than three months prior to your incremental anniversary date.
If you submit your application later than three months prior to your incremental anniversary date, assuming a successful validation assessment outcome, reclassification and any associated salary adjustment shall be delayed by the same period.
Should you submit your application after your incremental anniversary date, and receive a successful validation assessment outcome, reclassification and any salary adjustment will occur from the date on which the application was lodged with VETASSESS.
If you change service providers at any time during the validation process, please advise VETASSESS by email as soon as possible. However, the timeline for your validation will not change.
You can withdraw from the validation process at any time, should you choose to, by notifying both your employer and VETASSESS.
