Dr Mamta Chauhan

Executive Director

Dr Mamta Chauhan is the Executive Director of VETASSESS with Bendigo Kangan Institute Australia. VETASSESS is Australia's largest skills assessment provider supporting the Australian skilled migration program for more than 350 professional and trade occupations listed on Australia's skilled migration lists. 

Mamta has more than 20 years' experience in education (teaching, curriculum development, assessing and research), government and corporate stakeholder engagement. Her expertise in international skilling partnerships sees Mamta sit at various roundtable discussions and committees to discuss and input topics related to Australia's skilling landscape and priorities, global skills mobility and international qualification and skills mapping. 

Mamta now leads VETASSESS as it grows and diversifies in skills recognition both domestically as well as internationally.

Dr Rocco Guarnaccia

Head of Vocational Education and Training

Rocco Guarnaccia is responsible for overseeing the Skills Recognition Trades (SRT), eWorks and VET program areas. Throughout his career, Rocco has worked in the vocational education and training (VET) sector for over 30 years as a teacher/trainer, manager, senior executive and co-founder of a registered training organisation (RTO). He’s been responsible for program development (accredited and non-accredited programs), training and assessment (AQF courses), quality assurance and compliance (ASQA - domestic, ESOS/CRICOS - international) as well as research into the Australian VET industry. During this time, he has worked in the government (TAFE), university, private/corporate and non-for-profit sectors.
Rocco has a Doctor of Education from The University of Melbourne that focused on the organisational sustainability of commercial for-profit training providers within the VET sector. His research centered on the impact of the pedagogical, governance and business aspects of organisations and why some training providers succeeded while others failed. Rocco also holds a Master of Education, Postgraduate Diploma of Vocational Education and Training and Bachelor of Education and Training from The University of Melbourne.

Matthew Newton

Director, Professional Skills Recognition

Matthew Newton has a background in educational research and teaching at secondary and tertiary levels in China and Australia, and joined VETASSESS in 2015. Matthew oversees assessment service delivery across all migration and non-migration professional assessment services offered by VETASSESS. He works closely with peak industry bodies to support collaboration in assessment development, and led VETASSESS' work as Employability Assessment Provider for a recent Australian Government pilot aiming at assisting migrants find work at their skill level. He has presented at a number of international masterclasses and industry forums on VETASSESS' suite of assessment products and occupation-related criteria.
