As a global business, we’re known and recognised for our expertise in assessments, built on more than 25 years of experience. Our dedicated team assesses the qualifications and work experience of prospective migrants, and supports individuals’ applications for employment, course entry and industry membership in Australia.
We also apply our expertise to assess skills for industry organisations, and consult to governments and government agencies internationally on education and training initiatives.
In our role as a gazetted assessing authority, we conduct assessments for migration purposes and work with government and industry stakeholders.
Assessing international skills against Australian standards
The Australian Government has authorised VETASSESS to conduct skills assessments for migration purposes. This covers 27 trade occupations and more than 340 professional occupations, plus several hundred occupations for regional migration purposes.

Head of Vocational Education and Training
Dr Rocco Guarnaccia manages the Skills Recognition Trades (SRT), eWorks and VET departments of VETASSESS. Throughout his career, Rocco has worked in the vocational education and training (VET) sector for over 30 years as a teacher/trainer, manager, senior executive and co-founder of a registered training organisation (RTO). Rocco has a Doctor of Education from The University of Melbourne that focused on the organisational sustainability of commercial for-profit training providers within the VET sector.
Matthew Newton
Acting Group Manager - Skills Recognition Professional Occupations
Matthew manages the Skills Recognition Professional Occupations department. The VETASSESS professional assessment division assesses more than 340 professional and other non-trade occupations and Matthew oversees assessment support services, government reporting, assessment quality audits, integrity checks, process improvement, appeals and feedback management. Matthew works closely with peak industry bodies to support collaboration in assessment development and oversaw VETASSESS’ work as Employability Assessment Provider for a recent Commonwealth Government pilot aiming at assisting migrants find work at their skill level.
