VETASSESS will resume accepting new Pathway 1 applications for the occupation of Plumber (General), ANZSCO Code 334111, on February 12, 2024.

Applicants will be assessed against a new qualification that came into effect on January 31, 2024, the CPC32420 Certificate III in Plumbing.

Plumber is a licensed occupation in Australia, which means skills assessments for migration purposes involves a practical assessment as well as a technical interview.

VETASSESS paused accepting new Pathway 1 applications for Plumber in September 2023 while awaiting instructions from Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) on assessment requirements for the new qualification.

More information on assessment is available on the VETASSESS website.

Important note for migrant plumbers with an Offshore Technical Skills Record

Applicants should note that currently there is no nationally agreed Australian Minimum Context Gap Training package for migrant plumbers who hold an Offshore Technical Skills Record (OTSR).

It is at the discretion of each plumbing state and territory regulator to provide the plumbing OTSR holder with a pathway to be issued the Certificate III in Plumbing and/or a ‘full’ plumbing registration.

The pathway, cost and duration can differ from each state/territory.

You can find out more on the Trades Recognition Australia website.
