This occupation requires a qualification assessed as comparable to the educational level of an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Diploma or higher. Applicants can fulfil the assessment criteria for this occupation in four different ways.
* Additional qualifications in a highly relevant field of study include those comparable to the following levels:
- AQF Diploma
- AQF Advanced Diploma
- AQF Associate Degree or
- AQF Graduate Diploma
** Highly relevant paid employment duration (20 hours or more per week)

Qualification
AQF Diploma or higher qualification. This includes qualifications assessed at AQF Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree, Graduate Diploma, Master and Doctoral level.
A science-based field of study which relates to the line/context of the employment position(s) held would be sufficient for a positive assessment.
Employment Criteria
Highly relevant tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing materials for experimentation such as freezing and slicing specimens and mixing chemicals
- Collecting information and samples
- Conducting field and laboratory experiments, tests and analyses
- Presenting results in graphic and written form by preparing maps, charts, sketches, diagrams and reports
- Performing routine mathematical calculations, and computations of measurements
- Controlling the quality and quantity of laboratory supplies by testing samples and monitoring usage
- Checking, calibrating and maintaining test equipment
- Participating in fabricating, installing and modifying equipment to ensure that critical standards are met
- Preparing experiments and demonstrations for science classes
Additional tasks may include:

- Presenting results in graphic and written form by preparing maps, charts, sketches, diagrams and reports
