Am I eligible for Priority Processing?

You are eligible for Priority Processing if you:

  • Have never completed a Skills Assessment with VETASSESS or;
  • Wish to renew your positive assessment under the same occupation or;
  • Apply for a new occupation that you have not applied for before.

However, you may not be eligible for Priority Processing if you are nominating the same occupation for which you have received a negative outcome previously. In such a case, you would need to apply for either a reassessment or appeal. In addition to this, eligibility for Priority Processing also hinges on providing all mandatory documents when submitting your application.

Processing Time and Approval

Once you lodge your Priority Processing Request:

  • We review your application within two business days to confirm eligibility.
  • Once accepted, we endeavor to complete the assessment within ten business days
  • If additional documents are required, you'll have four business days to upload them.

We will email you once the eligibility review is completed, so you will know if your application is accepted for fast tracking. We only accept applications when we are confident that we can meet the 10-day completion timeline. If you are not eligible for Priority Processing, we will refund the Priority Processing fee (minus an administration fee).

Fees and Payments

Priority Processing is available at an extra cost. You can:

  • Select Priority Processing and pay the fee up-front at the time of submitting your Standard Application.
  • Request a Priority Processing upgrade within four weeks of the lodgment of a Standard Application.

Streamline Your Priority Processing Application

  1. Be organised. Submit all required documents, clearly labelled and legible. You can check the document requirements and understand the application process here
  2. Certified translations only. If your documents are not in English, you must submit copies of the original documents as well as the English translations made by a registered translation service.
  3. It's the details that matter. It is important that you provide us with the required employment evidence for each employment position listed in your application.
    1. If you have held more than one position in a company, please ensure that the submitted Statement of Service details the tasks you have performed for each position as well as the exact (DD/MM/YY) that you have been in each position.
    2. The Statement of Service should also document any unpaid and paid study leave or employment breaks.
    3. Use Statement of Service template where possible
  4. Add supporting documents. Contracts, promotional letters, work samples, portfolios, evidence of professional development, industry certifications and memberships to professional associations can help verify your experience and expediate processing.
  5. Review before submitting. Check the occupation information sheet here to ensure your submission meets all assessment requirements.
Common Reasons for Delays
  1. Missing identity documentation. We require a minimum of one primary and two secondary identity documents.
  2. Unsigned or mismatched applicant declaration form
  3. Please avoid low-resolution photos or poor-quality documents scans. Please ensure that all documents are legible and color scans of the original
  4. Inconsistent, misleading, or inauthentic information. Providing false, misleading or inconsistent information leads to delays in assessment. In such instances, the application may not be completed within 10 business days, and the applicant is not eligible for a refund.
  5. Referees who are not senior or or familiar with your work responsibilities. Nominating a suitable referee is vital to your Skills Assessment application. Ideally, your referees should be senior to you, such as a supervisor, direct manager, or your company's HR manager and who can verify your role and daily responsibilities.
