New accreditation program for customer service leaders

The Customer Service Institute of Australia (CSIA) and VETASSESS have launched an Accreditation Program for customer service leaders.

The program will enable leaders in customer service, contact centre management, service management or customer experience roles to have their leadership skills recognised by becoming a CSIA Accredited Customer Service Leader.  

The program is open to CSIA members and off/onshore migrants who seek to have their existing skills and work experience recognised.  

CSIA Executive Director Jeremy Larkins says many customer service leaders have entered the industry without a formal qualification in customer service and the Accreditation Program will enable them to gain recognition of skills and expertise they have built up over years. 

“The importance of credentialling is the recognition it gives people in leadership roles,” he said. 

“If they do decide to apply for other roles, they have a credential on their resume that provides formal recognition of their customer service leadership skills.” 

CSIA and VETASSESS have developed the occupational assessment criteria and VETASSESS will conduct the assessments, which are fully online.  

Successful applicants will receive a digital badge that they can share via their professional network and platforms such as LinkedIn, and which can be easily verified by potential employers and business partners.  

VETASSESS Executive Director Rob Thomason said many customer service professionals have expertise they have built up over many years and CSIA accreditation is formal acknowledgement of this wealth of experience.  

Applicants for accreditation will supply evidence of one or more years in a leadership role, or of their CSIA Certified Customer Service Leader qualification.
